Back to the Grind

Replay FX was a ton of fun. I got to play SlugFest again. It's a weird pinball baseball hybrid that I used to play in the arcade of a dirt mall where I grew up. Playing it with my husband made it even better than I remember it. That and it was on free play, so we didn't have to keep feeding it quarters to keep playing.

For anyone who does not know, Replay FX is host to several national and international gaming tournaments, and for the lest competitive, a gigantic free play arcade. Buying a badge gets you access to thousands of pinball and arcade machines as well as rare retro console games and systems. Last year was the first year, and had some of the usual hiccups that a first year convention suffers from - things that they were able to use as learning experiences for this year.

So here are a few of my favorite moments from the convention. I got to hear the Triforce Quartet play not once, but twice. I was able to play several games I thought I'd never see again. Our booth was within reach of two Pokéstops and had lures up on them all weekend long. To top it all off, our Extra Life booth was visited by several long time participants, including one who was so dedicated, she had a beautiful Extra Life logo tattoo. We got a ton of people excited about Extra Life, so I call it a job well done!

Now that that exhausting madness is over, I hope to be back to regular updates on Final Fantasy by tomorrow. Yesterday was day 18 of 100 and I'm way behind where I hoped I'd be at this point. I did try to play during the convention, but I had terrible luck when I was dividing my attention between manning our booth and battling monsters. I gave up after multiple party wipes.

As much as I was trying to avoid it, it looks like it may actually be time to buckle down and really focus on speed of progress. I'm going to blast through as much as I can tonight, so we'll see where that leaves me when next I post.
